The book deals with an ancient creation myth of the circumpolar peoples, the cult myth of "the woman-you-know-who-married". The author takes you on a journey into a past that began far to the north and spans millennia. She examines the bear myth in different epochs and cultures and the connection to C. G. Jung's analytical psychology completes the picture. The author has chosen language and images from alchemy to interpret the bear myth. Correspondences for the stages of transformation contained in alchemy can be found in psychic processes that are concerned with the becoming whole of the human being. In the end, it has not only become a research journey to the bear through the ages, but also to the forgotten parts of femininity.
