Summary:
The Frankfurt "Auschwitz Trial" has become a piece of contemporary history. Some of the many who made the most perfect death machine work were on trial in Frankfurt. The trial reports by Bernd Naumann describe the judicial efforts not to hold a reckoning on Germany's past, but to satisfy the law alone in the face of demonstrable guilt. The author only reproduces the course of the trial as it is reflected in the statements of the witnesses and defendants. The consequences, which lie outside the criminal law, have to be drawn by the reader himself.
