Product details

This volume is the culmination of Ernst Stadler's short career as a poet. With "Der Aufbruch," the young poet advanced to become the leading figure of literary expressionism. Religiously oriented, Stadler did not let himself be guided in his poems - like many other Expressionist poets - by premonitions of doom, but rather placed the departure to a new and better existence in the foreground. Stadler, the poet of this awakening, born in 1883, was killed by a shell in the First Battle of Flanders in 1914. Reprint of the original edition from 1920.
