Product details

And you? Do you have children? - Yes, a son, in America. Then silence. The question, asked innocently on the fringes of a panel event, touches on a life trauma. The old sixty-eight-year-old learned of his fatherhood by chance on the dance floor thirty years ago. The boy named Eno grew up in Jamaica, later in the U.S. There was no contact. His mother, a Hamburg native, went her own way. And so the existence of the son had never really concerned the father, who as an activist and hippie businessman did not want to know much about family. But in 2014, a foundation invited him to New York. A chance to come to terms with his suppressed history. The more he immerses himself in the city, following the traces of the underground of the seventies in old and new places up to the omens of Donald Trump's presidency, the more the question of the near, distant, long-grown child gains urgency.Self-ironically and with warm laconicism, Bernd Cailloux goes in search of the lost son, on a USA trip into his own past and foreign present - as a New York flâneur on foot, hesitantly on the Internet and finally on a plane to Menlo Park, to the western end of the western world.
