Dental trauma

In the last 25 years, there have been significant advancements in the field of dental traumatology, both in diagnostics and therapy. Each of the five types of tissue that can be injured in a dental trauma benefits from updated concepts and treatment recommendations, as well as from new materials and techniques. However, what has remained unchanged are the biological and physiological foundations that are relevant to the healing of the injured structures. These were largely researched over a quarter of a century ago, yet there are often shortcomings in clinical implementation. This book aims to provide a detailed insight and a deeper understanding of the relevant connections. It is a mix of previously published and new contributions that accurately represent the field of dental traumatology and are intended to help solve the 3D puzzle of dental trauma, where the appropriate measures—depending on the injured structures—must be assembled into a cohesive and functional treatment concept.
