Modern grief support is taking new paths. It begins earlier than has been customary and aims to prevent the need for therapy. It does not focus on so-called "phases" of the grieving process, but rather on the specific tasks that mourners need to manage. The tasks of the mourners can be used to derive the tasks of the support. The book presents six tasks of contemporary grief support and specifies them with practical case examples. One emphasis is on the pastoral care of farewell at the deathbed.
