Since the 2019/2020 school year, the new curriculum for the subject of Social Studies/Civics Education has been in effect in Saxony. Political education and democracy education are receiving greater emphasis, and for the first time, the subject is being taught starting in grade 7. We would like to support you in meeting this new challenge and are thoroughly revising the established series "Democracy Today" in light of the new curriculum.
For modern, age-appropriate, and well-founded subject instruction: The new, clear layout facilitates navigation through the pages. Fundamental subject knowledge is well-structured and conveyed in student-friendly language. Materials and tasks in volumes 7 and 8 are carefully tailored to younger students. Methods are thoroughly guided and practiced using concrete examples. Starting from a middle level, numerous options for differentiation and the use of various social forms are offered. Media education and education for sustainable development (ESD) are specifically promoted, thereby implementing the requirements of the new curriculum.
The proven structure in a modular system with self-contained thematic units, covering one or two pages, allows for individualized lesson planning and provides optimal support even for teachers from other subject areas. The digital textbook, all contents of the print teacher's guide, and numerous additional materials for the teaching work are available through BiBox - the digital teaching system for the textbook.
