Demerthin

Hardly any other village in the Prignitz has such outstanding cultural monuments as Demerthin. These include the 15th century church with its magnificent late medieval wall paintings and the Renaissance castle built by the von Klitzing family, which is one of the last authentic aristocratic houses of its kind in the Brandenburg brand. Both impressively document the more than eight hundred years of eventful history of the village located in the Ostprignitz near Kyritz. In the process, hitherto unknown aspects of Demerthin's significance in the artistic and cultural landscape of Brandenburg and the neighbouring regions are explained and categorised.
