Dem Biber auf der Spur

The beaver shapes the landscape according to its needs for survival. However, our rivers and waters often do not provide enough space for the animal. This leads to conflicts time and again. In the story "On the Trail of the Beaver," it is shown how a peaceful coexistence between humans and animals is possible. Twins Philipp and Niklas live near the Ems River. One day, they observe mysterious happenings in their garden: one of the fruit trees that their mother planted in the large meadow has suddenly disappeared! Only the stump remains visible. Philipp wants to prove that an animal was in the garden at night. His teacher tells him that beavers cut down trees and take them away. Together with his siblings, he searches for traces along the Ems and actually spots a beaver gnawing on a willow. After this discovery, the local farmers are filled with fear.
