Allein gegen den Wind

Sailing nonstop around the world requires more than just a good dose of self-confidence and mental strength. Few sailors have dared to undertake such a venture against prevailing winds and currents. Wilfried Erdmann, as humble as he is combative, took on this challenge: alone against the wind, nonstop around the Earth. In the summer of 2000, he set off from Cuxhaven with his yacht KATHENA NUI. 343 days later, he returned, having withstood all storms, battled every calm, and faced the psychological challenges with his own strength. There were more than enough uncertainties: storms so fierce that he feared for his ship; loneliness that became painfully evident in rare phone calls with his wife; and finally, the seemingly endless duration that forced him to live on rations.
