(De)Institutionalisierung von Bildung und Erziehung

Institutions in the field of education and upbringing, which were long taken for granted, have become subjects of research and theory formation in recent years. This is not least due to a fundamental change in educational institutions – from daycare centers to schools, youth services, vocational training, and universities. It becomes evident that the current phase of transformation, like previous historical ones, is characterized by dynamics of simultaneous and contradictory institutionalization and deinstitutionalization. The internationally renowned contributors from educational sciences and sociology of education bring the previously underexplored question of (de)institutionalization in the field of education and upbringing into the spotlight.
