On the Clifton Bridge in Bristol, a naked woman stands with a phone to her ear. She appears to be remote-controlled, devoid of will, and jumps to her death. Was the woman driven to suicide by her caller? When a friend of the deceased is found frozen, unclothed, and with a phone at her feet, psychotherapist Joe O'Loughlin realizes that an expert in human manipulation must be at work. Together with Detective Inspector Vincent Ruiz, he tries to track down the soul breaker, unaware that he himself has already become the target of the murderer.
