Dein Gott ist mein Gott'

This book addresses a topic of growing interest among both non-Jews and Jews. It is aimed at the large circle of readers seeking concrete answers to questions such as: Can non-Jews actually become Jews? How does this happen? What status is granted to converts in Judaism? At the same time, it serves as a guide for the increasing number of people intending to join Judaism. The first part of the presentation outlines the historical development from biblical times to the present. While Judaism in ancient times was open to newcomers, it later found itself increasingly pressured to exercise restraint under the influence of a growing church. The second part discusses the various groups and conditions for acceptance within the religious denominations of Judaism, as well as the moral dilemmas that candidates must confront. Personal accounts from Jews who have chosen to convert in the third part illustrate how conversions are handled and experienced in practice.
