Product details
It's summer in New York City, and antiquarian Sebastian Snow is taking the next step in his relationship with homicide detective Calvin Winter: they are moving in together. It was supposed to be a wonderful week where they would play house and celebrate Calvin's birthday. However, this peaceful time comes to an abrupt end when a mysterious package arrives at the Empire. Inside is Thomas Edison's Kinetoscope, a film projector from the nineteenth century, invented by the grandfather of modern cinema, W. K. L. Dickson. The package also contains film footage depicting a murder that occurred over a hundred years ago. Sebastian resists the urge to play investigator, even though the suspect has long since passed away and there is no immediate danger. But break-ins at the Empire, a theft, and bodies are clearly much harder to ignore. Sebastian quickly realizes that the century-old murder is a lead to a present-day killer. Despite Sebastian's vast knowledge of Victorian America and his relentless perseverance in the face of danger, this could be the one secret he won't survive.
