Data science has arrived in many organisations and is often common practice. Nevertheless, many people in charge are faced with the challenge of dealing with concrete issues for the first time or further developing ongoing projects. The range of methods, tools and applications is very wide and is constantly evolving. The multitude of publications on Data Science is specialised and focuses on individual aspects.&nbsp,The present work provides readers with a comprehensive orientation on the status quo from a scientific perspective and numerous in-depth presentations of practice-relevant aspects. The contents build on the scientific CAS certificate courses on Big Data and Data Science at Niederrhein University of Applied Sciences in cooperation with Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences and Dortmund University of Applied Sciences. They take into account scientific basics and in-depth knowledge, but also concrete experiences from data science projects. The book gives interested parties an insight into the currently relevant variety of aspects of data science and big data and provides tips for practical implementation.
