Before their expulsion in the years 1669 and 1670, the Jewish community of Vienna lived in the Unteres Werd. Ignaz Schwarz (1867-1925) studied the living conditions in that Viennese ghetto based on original sources and accurately depicts their isolated existence from the rest of the city. Unaltered reprint of the 1909 edition.
