Barely arrived in Cruden Bay over the rugged cliffs of Aberdeenshire, businessman Archie Hunter is haunted by strange visions. The eerie old woman Gormala seems to know everything about it. She leads Archie to an ancient riddle that began with a raid by the Spanish Armada in the 16th century and points to a hidden treasure. To find it, Archie teams up with the clever and beautiful American Marjorie, and together they manage to crack a complicated secret code, behind which they suspect further clues to the riddle's solution lie. However, what begins as a promising treasure hunt turns into a desperate battle against seemingly overpowering foes.
