The Silmarillion recounts the events of the First Age, that distant era of Middle-earth, which the heroes of The Lord of the Rings often look back on with reverence. This luxury edition is released to celebrate the 40th anniversary. It is bound in the finest blue leather, featuring two ribbon bookmarks and a blue slipcase. This edition complements the leather editions of "The Lord of the Rings" and "The Hobbit." It is limited to 7,777 copies. It includes a two-color printed map of Beleriand and the northern lands, as well as a two-color printed map of the realms of the Noldor and Sindar. It contains Tolkien's painting of the Halls of Manwë or Taniquetil as a colored frontispiece and the coat of arms of Lúthien Tinúviel. The Silmarillion tells of the events of the First Age, that distant era of Middle-earth.
