Author's Text
Born in 1957. Studied graphic design in Düsseldorf. Most of her career was spent in the advertising industry, and today she works as a freelance writer for various publishers. She has a son and has been self-employed as a jewelry designer in the fashion industry since 2003. Iskender Gider was born in 1957 in Istanbul, Turkey. When he was nine years old, his parents moved with him to West Germany, where he attended school first in Cologne and then in Recklinghausen. He is an advertising graphic designer and cartoonist, and he is a lecturer at the University of Essen. He creates objects and sculptures—mostly quirky birds made from scrap metal. Animals also play an important role in his books: partly because they appeal to the child in him, and partly because they allow him to depict the human experience in a "beastly" way. He has a fondness for what he calls his "artistic chaos," loves children—especially his little son! And in his picture books, he enjoys painting elephants, pigs, chickens, and foxes the most.
Blurb
All the white chickens make fun of the black chicken, which not only looks different but also lays oddly shaped eggs. This makes the black chicken very sad, and it hides in the farthest corner of the barn. Only the Easter Bunny takes a liking to the star- and heart-shaped eggs and places them as very special Easter eggs in the king's nest.
