In a messy divorce, young mother Sonja loses custody of her son. Desperate to get him back, she is unable to afford an expensive lawyer. With her back against the wall, she agrees to smuggle cocaine to Iceland, telling herself it’s only until she has enough money to care for her son. However, she soon realizes that there is no easy way out of the ruthless drug trade. As she desperately searches for a way out, customs officer Bragi, whom she regularly encounters on her smuggling route at the airport, begins to take notice. He starts to suspect that Sonja’s flawless appearance is merely a facade. The already high-stakes situation becomes even more complicated when Sonja enters into a relationship with Agla. Once a high-ranking bank employee, Agla finds herself embroiled in a scandal and facing criminal charges after the Icelandic financial crash. Soon, a complex web of crime unfolds between Sonja, Bragi, and Agla. They realize too late that every attempt to free themselves only entangles them further.
