Das Marienkrankenhaus Kaiserswerth 1855-2019

When the lights in St Mary's Hospital were switched off for good in November 2019, many citizens regretted it, regardless of their religious affiliation. Kaiserswerth was a "hospital town" characterised by competition between the two major Christian denominations - the Protestant deaconesses and the Catholic Franciscan nuns. The book offers an outline of the history of the former St Mary's Hospital of the parish of St Suitbertus. Religious aspects play a role, but of course also medical and nursing history. In addition, there is the interesting building history, which can be seen in the variety of styles of the building complex.
