Product details
The many old and new fans of "The Last Unicorn" can read the classic here along with a sequel that is being published in German for the first time. "The Last Unicorn" returns to humanity.
For a long time, "The Last Unicorn" has been part of the canon of world literature for young and old alike, and it has lost none of its fascination. In this expanded edition of the classic, Peter S. Beagle continues the thrilling story of the vanished unicorns. The village where little Sooz lives is threatened by a dangerous and evil griffin. Time and again, it kidnaps small children and does not set them free. Sooz decides to secretly venture out and ask the old King Lír for help for her village. But can mere mortals really do anything against a dangerous mythical creature? A griffin, after all, has two hearts, one of an eagle and one of a lion. Readers can look forward to reuniting with the wizard Schmendrick, Molly Grue, and the most famous hoofed creature in fantasy literature.
By chance, the last unicorn hears that it is the last of its kind and that the other unicorns have been driven away by the red bull. Together with the completely talentless wizard Schmendrick and the bandit bride Molly Grue, the last unicorn sets off to King Hagard's court to search for its companions: "The bright sparkle of the horns. Like rainbow-shimmering masts on silver ships, the horns came riding out of the sea. Each wave brought hundreds, they reared up and stomped and bent their long, cloud-like necks far back.".
