Product details
Born in 1857, died in 1934. Ludwig II, Bismarck, Hitler, the war of 1870/71 and World War I, the industrial revolution and the Weimar Republic - Resl Heimrath spent her life in a time full of upheavals. From childhood, her daily life was hard work and effort. This did not change when she left her family's farm and married the master baker Max Graf. She had eleven children, eight of whom reached adulthood, and despite all the fears she faced during times of war and danger, she remained the steady center of the bakery house by Lake Starnberg. Oskar Maria Graf, with this portrait of his mother, not only created a chronicle of village life in Upper Bavaria but also a socially and critically aware novel of great poetic power.
