Das Glück in glücksfernen Zeiten

The job market knows no mercy, especially not for PhDs in philosophy. Gerhard Warlich therefore takes a job in an industrial laundry and settles down in his unexciting but secure existence. But when his girlfriend Traudel wants to have a child, Warlich, who would prefer to live only half-day, gets completely out of step. Genazino tells this story of a sad hero, an everyday melancholiac who suffers from details, and his much less sad girlfriend, with astonishing laconicity.
