Since the tragic death of his son, Paul has been living on a small island off Hong Kong. He clings to his memories and avoids contact with other people. Even the angelic patience and affection of Christine Wu bounce off him. When Paul meets an American woman whose son was murdered in China, her despair over the loss touches his own trauma. At first, he hesitates to get involved in the investigation. However, when he ultimately decides to participate, a path back to life and love opens up for him in the face of this challenge.
