Das eigenwillige Kind – Bedürfnis und Erziehung in nachmythischer Zeit

From the very beginning of its existence, the child articulates an unconditional claim to life. How can education meet this claim without appealing to a higher power or an ideal order? The text provides food for thought regarding the eternal question of the contradictory relationship between the child and the educator, or between the individual and the community/society. In a post-mythical age, the child to be educated must be recognized and included as a relevant co-designer of its educational process, lest it be reduced to a mere object of others' ambitions. For the possibility of an education that decisively aligns with universal values ultimately depends on the free consent of the child and the adult it will become.
