Das Dorf

Summer promises to be beautiful and boring. Initially reluctant, seventeen-year-old Maik increasingly takes twelve-year-old Jenny along on his moped rides; eventually, they are the only young people in their northern German village. They know one thing about the future: they do not want to live like the adults do, in the small world where no one is at peace with themselves - not Jenny's dissatisfied mother, not the strange businessman with his family, and not the beautiful crazy woman whom everyone calls "the Naked One." But then the two discover that Jenny's mother is having an affair with the big farmer, whose stepdaughter, the Naked One, knows the businessman a little too well - they stumble into a thicket of lies and secrets, even uncovering a crime. With irresistible tragicomedy and an ironic perspective, Katrin Seddig tells the story of a not-so-idyllic summer.
