The diaries of the Dutch Jew Etty Hillesum (1914-1943) span from March 1941 until her call to the transit camp Westerbork and her deportation to Auschwitz in October 1943. There, she was murdered, not yet 30 years old. Etty Hillesum knew what fate awaited her. Nevertheless, her diary reflects a deep belief in the goodness of every person, trust in God, inexhaustible love, and unbridled joy for life.
