Das Bürgermeister-Ringenhain-Haus in Torgau

One of the most impressive architectural monuments of the Renaissance city of Torgau is the town hall of Mayor Paul Ringenhain, which is now used as a museum. Newly built in 1596, it still features a picturesque and sculptural design of high artistic value, showcasing a courtly elegance within a civic environment.

The builder and Mayor Ringenhain was not only the wealthiest citizen of Torgau at his time, but he also engaged selected significant artists to create a representative design for his residence that met his highest standards. The lost interior of the Torgau Electoral Residence Castle Hartenfels finds a reflection here. It demonstrates how much the architecture and art of the castle have positively influenced the city and its citizens.
