Product details
The art theft by the National Socialists occupied museums and the art trade, because the suspicion of confiscation and forced sales weighed heavily on many works of art. This book makes a contribution to clarification: Hanns Christian Löhr evaluated the inventories of Hitler's art collection from 1938-45, which he had compiled for a museum in Linz on the Danube. Index cards, lists and photographs of several thousand works of art allow a precise analysis of his collecting habits. The study proves this: The collection was built up with substantial help from the German and international art trade. There were also consignments from confiscations of Jewish property and from forced sales.
