The job market in sports has changed significantly over the past few decades with its diverse fields of work and continues to expand. There are higher demands on the quality of education for students, and career paths are becoming more extensive. Graduates are facing increasing competition, making it more challenging to find a suitable job in their trained field after completing their studies. The aim of this book is to analyze the field of sports marketing using both quantitative (online questionnaire) and qualitative (in-depth interview) research methods. The required profile for the profession from the perspective of potential employers regarding graduates in sports science will be elaborated. It will be demonstrated what the prospects for sports science graduates in this area look like, and specifically, what exact requirements or professional competencies, interdisciplinary skills, social skills, additional qualifications, etc., a sports-specific university graduate must possess to be considered suitable for the marketing industry. The main recruitment channels and selection criteria for applicants in various sports marketing companies will also be highlighted. The results obtained from the study aim to identify areas for improvement and concepts for preparing sports science students, particularly in the fields of sports economics and management, for their future careers. The goal is to provide students with a better starting position for the described field of work.
