Product details

Turid Rugaas became known all over the world for her research on the calming signals of dogs. Her book of the same name is considered a classic of cynological literature and has been published in numerous countries and languages.
With her book on the barking behaviour of dogs, she devotes herself to a subject that often heats up people's minds, because social tolerance of barking dogs is declining more and more. The meowing of a cat or neighing of a horse is accepted, but dogs are expected to be predominantly still.
Why is that? Do dogs really bark too much, or are we humans just annoyed by a language we don't understand? How could training look like for dogs that really bark too much and despair even of their owners who sincerely love them?
Turid Rugaas gives answers to these and many more questions about the barking behavior of dogs. She introduces different types of barkers and would like to introduce us to the "foreign language dogish". She says, "Animals have feelings. They show love and affection, sadness and fear, anger and joy, disappointment and hopeful expectation. They also tell us about these feelings through sound - it is up to us to understand this and to react sensitively to it."
