Das Barnabas Evangelium

For many centuries, the Gospel of Saint Barnabas - may God bless him - could be kept hidden from the public until it was published in the 16th century in an Italian translation, emerging from the closed libraries of the Vatican, and after an adventurous odyssey, it now finds its place in the Vienna State Library (Cod. 2662 Eug.). Even the scholars of antiquity were astonished that the Gospel of Barnabas had been removed from the ancient codices. And to this day, one wonders: What could have been the reason for this? What is it that has been kept secret from us since that time? It was not Jesus, the Anointed One, who suffered the death on the cross, but Judas Iscariot, who, through a divine miracle, took on the form and appearance of Jesus, like the apostle and closest confidant of Jesus.
