Atlanta 1948: Under pressure from above, the police department is forced to establish the first unit of black police officers in its history. Eight men who are to ensure law and order in "Darktown," the strictly demarcated neighborhood of black residents. The situation is anything but simple: their white colleagues meet the officers with deep hostility.
