About the author: Often for weeks, the editor of the Hannoversche Anzeigen would stay in his small hunting lodge in the Westenholzer Bruch. He would go stalking in the heath and moor and write his nature and landscape poems. The local poet Hermann Löns was already a myth during his lifetime. He fell in 1914 in the war, in which he wanted to participate as a volunteer despite being 48 years old.
