Cursus Brevis. Texte und Übungen

The Cursus Brevis is designed for a shorter Latin course. The interesting and motivating texts are of moderate difficulty, and the material is evenly distributed across 20 lessons. The reading pieces cover numerous areas of antiquity: private life and politics, myth and history, legal systems and criticism of Rome, rhetoric and ethnography, drama and philosophy. Improved readability and translatability of the texts are achieved through the new, largely columnar arrangement of sentences. The four-page principle per lesson guarantees a clear structure and a systematic approach to the material. Five additional lessons without new grammatical content serve as a transition to reading. After every five lessons, a Repetitio Generalis is included, aimed at assessing learning success and gradually introducing the technique of translation. The vocabulary is limited to just under 900 words and phrases. The vocabulary exercise page offers learning tips and prompts for acquisition and review. References to modern foreign languages further reinforce the vocabulary. The systematic accompanying grammar presents the material in a completely new way. Following the sequence of the book, it is presented in four blocks, both in conjunction with the lessons and in a cross-lesson context according to the three-step process of word - sentence - text. The teacher's manual contains solutions, methodological-didactic suggestions, further content supplements, worksheet templates, and proposals for school assignments. The workbook offers exercises for deepening and reviewing, for monitoring learning success, and for exam preparation.
