Deux textes majeurs de Carl Schmitt sont réunis dans ce livre. La Notion de politique (1932) exposes the thèses that form the centre of his thought: l'Etat ne se confond pas avec la politique, il n'en est qu'une expression historique et périssable. Politics itself is the place of discrimination between the enemy and the enemy. In the modern era, the state is the instance that defines the enemy and decides on war or peace. Théorie du partisan (1962) examines the situation created by the rise of the political monopoly of the state from 1945 onwards, when the conflict became generalised due to the politicisation of all spheres of social life.
