The Englishman Charlie Adlard, born in 1966, initially studied film and video before entering the comic scene with the series Nobody. He then illustrated X-Files (Topps), Shadowman (Acclaim), Mars Attacks! (Topps), Hellblazer, Batman, Superman (DC), The Crow (KSP), and the graphic novels White Death and Codeflesh (AIT/Planetlair). For Marvel, he worked on numerous fill-ins as well as the one-shot Heroes Reborn: Masters of Evil (written by Codeflesh partner Joe Casey) and the miniseries X-Men - Hellfire Club. In 2004, he took over the artwork for the successful series The Walking Dead (Image Comics) starting from the second cycle. For his work on this series, he promptly received an Eisner Award nomination.
