Jane Bowring worked as an editor for adult books when a colleague asked her to look at some manuscripts for children's picture books. This sparked her desire to write for children herself. Her own children and those of her friends provided a rich source of inspiration.

Along the way, she discovered that many children prefer non-fiction books to fictional stories. Researching material for her non-fiction books led to a fascination with wild animals, some of which appear in her latest stories. Jane is the author of "Cousins and Crocodiles" and "Lost in the Rain" in the Hueber English Readers series.
