Counselling and supervision

How different are supervision and self-reflective counseling in profit and non-profit organizations? Do the occasions, framework conditions, expectations, topics, and benefit assessments differ? Four supervision processes from various sectors – a sports equipment manufacturer, a system house, a kindergarten, and a counseling center – are analyzed and compared on a case-by-case basis against the backdrop of a socio-psychological systemic approach regarding these questions. The comparison categories are task orientation, relationship orientation, and self-orientation. The results show that the type of organization (profit or non-profit) is not primarily significant for the content of the reflective work, but rather the nature of the supervision group and its fundamental concerns.
