Correspondence

Arthur Rimbaud has become a myth. His works have been transformed into meteorites and are still regarded by many readers as prime examples of the supposed incomprehensibility of modern poetry. Rimbaud's complete correspondence, all works published during his lifetime (newly translated based on the manuscripts), as well as all contemporary reviews are now available in German for the first time in Lefrère's monumental Rimbaud edition. A largely unknown Rimbaud reveals himself here. His two lives intersect between the covers of a book. Turning the pages means traversing immense distances: while Rimbaud's "To Music" is published for the first time in a small Parisian magazine in 1889, the author is in Harar writing invoices for the merchants associated with him in Shoa or Aden. And he denies any connection between himself and the issues in which he appears.
