Product details
The Corpus Vasorum Antiquorum (CVA) is an international publication series established between the two World Wars and is under the patronage of the Union Académique Internationale. Its aim is to comprehensively document ancient vessels in museums and collections around the world. The vessels are to be made accessible to research, particularly through a sufficient documentation of high-quality images. Each vessel is accompanied by a catalog text that includes all museographic information, a description of its condition, decoration, and any figurative images. The vessel is also dated and scientifically classified within its genre. To date, approximately 350 volumes have been published in the CVA series worldwide. The publication of the volumes follows a predetermined standard. In Switzerland, a commission at the Swiss Academy of Humanities and Social Sciences (SAGW) is responsible for the publication. So far, 8 volumes from the Swiss series have been published, with more in progress. The fascicle CVA Zurich – Public Collections 2 presents around 140 vessels and fragments in the possession of the Archaeological Collection of the University. It includes works from East Greek, Laconian, Corinthian, Attic, and Greater Greek workshops. The author of the volume, developed with the support of the Swiss National Fund and the University of Zurich, is classical archaeologist lic. phil. Sabrina Buzzi.
