Constanze Mozart

Constanze Mozart, née Weber (1762-1842), was married for nine years to the already famous composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. When he died on December 5, 1791, he left behind a widow of nearly 30 years, whose life changed fundamentally after a marriage that was not always easy, but still happy. Constanze was left with two sons and dedicated her entire life – along with her second husband, Georg Nikolaus Nissen – to preserving the memory of the life and work of the great composer. In doing so, she laid the foundation for the enduring interest in Mozart's music to this day.
