This book presents a study on improving the performance of micro thermal energy generators (µTEG) for solar energy conversion applications and also the development of a highly reliable pont-type design. The performance is improved by optimising the material parameters for the operating temperature and also by optimising the design of the µTEG. The optimisation of the material is made on the basis of the figure of the material's properties. The suitability of the material for the manufacture of the MEMS and the material's flexibility are also taken into account when selecting the material. The perovskite type CaMn0.98 Nb0.02 O3 is considered to be the optimal material for solar energy conversion. La température de fonctionnement de la perovskite de type CaMn0.98Nb0.02O3 varie de 300K à 800K. Les propriétés thermoélectriques de la perovskite de type CaMn0.98Nb0.02O3 à 600K (le coefficient Seebeck est de 210 µV/K, la conductivité thermique est de 1.85 W/(m-K) et la conductivité électrique est de 4081.6327 S/m) sont obtenues. One of the main requirements in the design of the thermoelectric module is to determine the optimum geometry in order to achieve high performance and reduce the cost of the µTEG. The optimisation of the design is achieved by varying the length of the thermoelectric module.
