Product details
This book deals with methods and applications of computer-assisted route planning. The focus is on the development of algorithms that solve practical problems with a strong time reference, such as customer time windows and time-dependent travel times. The variety of planning constraints addressed sets this book apart from similar works. In particular, the multiple use of vehicles and the consideration of variable travel times have been scarcely examined until now. For the first time, the use of route planning in conjunction with a traffic control system is explored. All procedures are presented in a clear pseudocode. It demonstrates that very complex planning situations in operational practice can be represented using mathematical methods. Thus, computers make planning easier.
