Compliance - Eine besondere Form der Rechtstreue

Large companies typically employ a compliance officer today, whose role is to ensure that both written and unwritten rules are followed across all areas of the organization. This involves adhering to both governmental regulations and societal self-regulations. However, what is the relationship between compliance and data protection? This question was explored at the 19th Wiesbaden Forum on Data Protection. The discussion revealed that there is indeed a risk that employers could jeopardize the data protection rights of employees or customers by imposing behavioral rules. Since data protection is also a rule that must be followed, it needs to be integrated into the compliance process. As a result of the discussions, it can be concluded that data protection must be understood as a subject, not as a barrier to compliance. The contributions included in this volume can provide insights for readers who are professionally engaged with this issue and help clarify some questions that arise in this field.
