"Commodity Frontiers and Global Capitalist Expansion" is an interdisciplinary collection that examines the dynamics of global capitalist expansion through the concept of 'Commodity Frontier.' Rather than adopting a global perspective, as many meta-narratives do, this book highlights how local dynamics have shaped the process of capitalist expansion in 'uncommodified' spaces. The contributions demonstrate that the development of frontier areas and their transformation over time have transformed human ecology, labor relations, and social, economic, and political structures worldwide. The chapters address agricultural and pastoral frontier areas, natural habitats, as well as commodity frontiers in relation to fossil fuels and mineral resources in various regions of the world, including South America, Asia, Africa, and the Arabian Gulf.
