Product details

The long history of colonialism has gone through various phases that have transitioned into one another according to the development of productive forces: from the slaveholding societies of antiquity to the heyday of European explorers and plunderers and their heirs in capitalism. It extends to the imperial and neocolonial conquistadors of modern times, who employ outdated colonial methods under the banner of globalization. Modern colonialism is, as long-time Bolivian President Evo Morales states, the political and ideological twin of imperialism. Both are experiencing a new flourishing with the current recolonization and openly display their violent nature. On the other hand, colonial repression has always been accompanied by resistance, which in the 20th century has intermittently achieved decolonization. However, the liberation movements that characterized this phase have yet to find their current counterparts. What is sought are new forms of internationalism and solidarity.
