Product details

Erich Hermès (1881-1971) is one of the most important Geneva painters of the first half of the 20th century. He is particularly known for his poster art and his murals in public buildings. As a contemporary of Ferdinand Hodler, whose influences can be seen in his early works, he developed his own unique style. The monograph provides a comprehensive overview of his entire body of work as a painter, draftsman, and sculptor. Hermès' colorful posters promoting the holiday destination of Switzerland are familiar to a wide audience, as is the view of the fountain in Lake Geneva at the Lausanne train station. However, his work is more diverse, both in terms of subjects and media - in addition to portraits, still lifes, and landscapes, he also created stained glass windows, reliefs, and small sculptures.
