Chur in the heat of summer 1947: A cruel murderer of young women instills fear and terror in the city. Suspicion quickly falls on a young man who works as a servant in a poorhouse. After the first interrogation, he flees into the mountains, and a relentless manhunt begins. However, local officer Walter Caminada encounters inconsistencies in his investigations. The clues lead him to the asylum, but also to the highest circles of the local government – until Caminada himself finds himself in trouble.
